ABOUT US
Lake City Coffee proudly stands as a trailblazer in Nepal’s specialty coffee scene. Before 2019, specialty coffee—whether in cafés, schools, or production—was a rare find in our country. Recognizing this opportunity, we took a bold step to fill the gap and spark a movement. Our vision? To unlock Nepal’s incredible potential in crafting exceptional specialty coffee and share the unique flavors of our terroirs with the world. Beyond that, we’re passionate about inspiring young people to build fulfilling careers right here at home while empowering farmers to play a vital role in boosting Nepal’s economy.
Our journey started with connecting to farmers. We sought out those with small coffee plots that weren’t yet part of the commercial market. Through research, encouragement, and shared knowledge, we motivated them to grow their passion into something bigger. Today, we work closely with farmers, especially in the Gandaki Province in mid-Nepal, to celebrate the origins of our coffee and bring their stories to life.
Harvesting and Processing
When harvest season arrives, we buy coffee cherries directly from farmers who handpick each lot with care. We also guide them with tips on nurturing their coffee trees and introduce modern techniques to enhance quality. Our processing approach blends tradition with innovation, based on careful research. We experiment with different lots to highlight the distinct flavors and character of Nepali coffee—creating something truly special in every batch.
Roasting
Every coffee bean tells a story shaped by its variety, origin, altitude, and processing. We dive deep into understanding each one—measuring density, moisture, and green coffee profiles with advanced tools. Our roasting process is designed to honor the bean’s natural qualities, not chase fleeting market trends like dark roasts. Instead, we roast thoughtfully to bring out flavors perfect for espresso, filter brews, or both. Using cutting-edge software, we ensure consistency and craft every batch with love and precision. And before our coffee reaches your cup, we’re excited to share its unique journey with you!
